Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Additional powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions

- Cream together the softened butter and 1/2 cup of powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
- Blend in the vanilla extract, mixing well.
- Gradually add in the flour, salt, and chopped nuts (if using), stirring until combined.
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and arrange them on an ungreased baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake in your preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cookies are set but barely golden.
- Allow them to cool slightly on the baking sheet before rolling in powdered sugar.
- Once completely cool, roll them in powdered sugar again for a lovely snowy finish.
Notes
For a richer flavor, try using brown butter. For a nut-free version, omit the nuts or substitute with finely chopped dried fruit.
