Description

Delightful soft snowball cookies dusted with powdered sugar, perfect for holiday gatherings and cozy afternoons.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Additional powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter and 1/2 cup of powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Blend in the vanilla extract, mixing well.
  4. Gradually add in the flour, salt, and chopped nuts (if using), stirring until combined.
  5. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and arrange them on an ungreased baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake in your preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cookies are set but barely golden.
  7. Allow them to cool slightly on the baking sheet before rolling in powdered sugar.
  8. Once completely cool, roll them in powdered sugar again for a lovely snowy finish.

Notes

For a richer flavor, try using brown butter. For a nut-free version, omit the nuts or substitute with finely chopped dried fruit.
