Description
A delightful chicken dish layered with ham and Swiss cheese, enveloped in a crispy breadcrumb coating, perfect for weeknight dinners and special occasions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 4 slices of ham
- 4 slices of Swiss cheese
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup flour
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup honey mustard sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying (if pan-frying)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) if you choose to bake the chicken.
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper, making sure to coat them evenly for a burst of flavor.
- Dredge each chicken breast in flour, shaking off any excess.
- Dip the floured chicken into beaten eggs, ensuring it’s covered.
- Coat the chicken with breadcrumbs until fully covered, creating a crunchy layer.
- If pan-frying, heat a generous amount of oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the chicken for about 4-5 minutes on each side until it’s golden brown.
- If baking, place the breaded chicken on a greased baking sheet.
- Top each chicken breast with a slice of ham and a slice of Swiss cheese.
- Bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is thoroughly cooked and the cheese is melted.
- Drizzle with honey mustard sauce before serving for an added layer of flavor.
Notes
Feel free to substitute the Swiss cheese for gouda or mozzarella. You can also use whole wheat breadcrumbs for a healthier version.
