  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 green onions, sliced (whites and greens separated)
  • About 4 cups cooked white rice
  • Quick pickled cucumbers (2 tablespoons rice vinegar, 1 teaspoon sugar, pinch of salt)
  • Sesame seeds (optional)
  • Fried egg (optional)
  • Steamed or sautéed greens (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients: Mince garlic, grate ginger, slice green onions, and prepare quick pickled cucumbers.
  2. Cook the ground beef: Heat skillet, brown beef until no longer pink (6-7 minutes).
  3. Add aromatics and sauce: Stir in garlic, ginger, and white onion; pour in soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes, then simmer (2 minutes).
  4. Finish with green onions: Stir in green onion tops and adjust seasoning.
  5. Serve over rice: Top with beef mixture, cucumbers, sesame seeds, and optional fried egg.
