Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- Additional olive oil for drizzling
- Fresh herbs (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Stir together the flour, salt, minced garlic, and olive oil in a large mixing bowl.
- Pour the yeast mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough into an oiled bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and allow it to rise in a warm place until doubled in size, approximately 60 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Spread the risen dough onto a greased baking sheet, pressing it out to approximately 1-inch thickness.
- Create dimples in the surface of the dough, then drizzle with olive oil.
- Sprinkle the shredded Parmesan cheese evenly over the top and add fresh herbs if desired.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, consider sautéing the minced garlic in olive oil before adding it to the dough.
