Description

A comforting Italian pasta dish featuring savory sausage, creamy sauce, and sun-dried tomatoes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb pasta (your choice)
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp salt (to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper (to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Brown the sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil and crumble in the Italian sausage. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until browned. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Sauté garlic and tomatoes: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and chopped sun-dried tomatoes. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Prepare the sauce: Deglaze the skillet with a splash of chicken broth, scraping up any tasty bits stuck to the bottom. Add the remaining chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir in the grated parmesan cheese and let the mixture simmer for approximately 5 minutes.
  5. Combine: Return the cooked sausage to the skillet, along with the drained pasta. Toss everything together until the pasta is well coated in the creamy sauce. Adjust the seasoning with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
  6. Serve and garnish: Enjoy hot, topped with fresh basil and additional parmesan if you desire.

Notes

For a lighter version, consider substituting turkey sausage or use gluten-free pasta.
