Description
Delightful crispy potato cheese sticks filled with melted cheese, perfect as a snack or appetizer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and cut into sticks
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 eggs, beaten
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Boil the potatoes: Start by boiling the potato sticks in salted water for about 5 minutes until they’re slightly soft. Drain and let them cool.
- Heat the oil: In a frying pan, preheat oil over medium heat. Aim for enough oil to cover the potato sticks halfway.
- Prepare the egg mixture: In a bowl, beat the eggs and add a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Coat the sticks: Take each potato stick, dip it into the egg mixture, and then coat it thoroughly with breadcrumbs.
- Add the cheese: Carefully make a small slit in the center of each stick and insert shredded cheese.
- Fry until golden: Fry the sticks in the hot oil for about 3-4 minutes, or until they turn golden and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan—work in batches if necessary.
- Drain and serve: Remove the potato cheese sticks and let them drain on paper towels. This helps keep them crispy.
- Enjoy hot: Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce—ranch, ketchup, or a zesty aioli are great options!
Notes
For a healthier option, consider using an air fryer or baking them instead of deep-frying.
