Description

Delightful crispy ham and cheese stacks encased in flaky puff pastry, perfect for appetizers or family dinners.


Ingredients

  • Sliced ham
  • Shredded cheese (such as cheddar or Swiss)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: fresh herbs like thyme or parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry onto a floured surface.
  3. Cut the pastry into squares for layering.
  4. Layer a slice of ham and a generous amount of cheese on half of the squares.
  5. Season with salt, pepper, and optional herbs.
  6. Top and seal with another pastry square, using a fork for a lovely crimped edge.
  7. Brush with a beaten egg for that perfect golden finish.
  8. Bake until puffy and golden brown, then enjoy!

Notes

These stacks can be frozen before baking. Bake straight from the freezer, adding a few extra minutes to the baking time.
